rvp Thanks, I will spend some time either tomorrow night or over the weekend on this and will report back in with the results and the dmesg
output
But for now, I can answer a few things
rvp Check if a file exists as /etc/xorg.conf and that it has the correct (644) permissions.
The files exists, and contains exactly what is shown in my previous comment above. Is it set to 644 permissions? Not sure, probably not.
rvp the monitor only goes up to a maximum resolution of 1366x768 (you mentioned 1440 somewhere, I think):
Correct, I am still using a shitty second hand TV screen (another curbside find) and that is the default resolution. I think I mentioned 1440 previously because that's what I plan to get.
rvp With only 1366x768 pixels stretched across a 22x12 inch screen, you get a pathetic DPI count:
Also correct. It looks like shite.
One other thing I didn't mention in my last comment it that the command startx
failed with this error:
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused
xinit: server error
xauth: (argv):1: bad display name "localhost.local:0" in "remove" command
My host name is localhost
and local
is the domain. Not exactly sure what this error is complaining about.
Cheers again!
