Jay depends FreeBSD with UFS and NetBSD with FFS would feel faster for desktop usage but if you want ZFS it will be bit slow but more advanced file system.. I haven't tried DragonflyBSD with Hammer but it is also fast.
Oh I see, I would probably stick with UFS. What about processing speeds which OS would be faster, GNU/Linux or FreeBSD?
