The OpenBSD manpage about disklabel has this under the header 'Automatic Disk Allocation':

The -A option and the editor command A automatically create a disklabel with a set of partitions suitable for a majority of OpenBSD installations. Any existing OpenBSD disklabel on the disk is ignored, but native partitions that would normally be spoofed are preserved in the disklabel, and are not modified during the allocation process.

What do 'spoofed' and 'native' mean in this context?

I think that's referring to how you access non-OpenBSD partitions (those outside of the OpenBSD start/end sector range) using the disklabel scheme. You can simply add disklabel entries for those with the correct start/end. I've done this for an ext2 partition which I keep for data xfer between my OSes.

That paragraph is a bit confusing, esp. as the source only mentions "spoofed" once, and this in the context of (not) resizing non-FFS/non-SWAP partitions--see line 750.

My sense of this is that: if you have spoofed (ie. non-native) partitions already existing in an OpenBSD disklabel, then an automatic allocation (during upgrade/overwrite) will keep these partitions untouched--which makes sense because they're not OpenBSD-created partitions and outside the OpenBSD allocated disk range. Maybe native FFS partitions are preserved too, but, don't know how/why they would need to be "spoofed". Best to ask the OpenBSD folks.
