Oh, I dont speak about starting daemon by default; I think too, it's not good. Just place where it will be easy useful. :p
(this is one reason for that I like OpenBSD) 😃
Admits that looking for the services to be started in the example directory is not where you would intuitively go to look for them, whereas the /etc/rc.d directory seems to be the right and usefull place. ;-)
(maybe I would see things differently if I had started my unix experience with another BSD).
Wherever, I like to see informations (installation notice) during installation of packages, or by pkg_info -D package_name
; it's very usefull, too! :p
