rvp Note that even the latest one doesn't handle emojis.
Wrong. B&W emojis are shown just fine.
pin Thanks for the hint about xfd
If your locale is UTF-8, then you can do an even more simple check to see the glyphs for whatever code points you have are present in your chosen font:
$ cat nerdfont.sh
#!/bin/sh
export LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
export LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8
export LC_ALL=""
echo $'\uf62b'
echo $'\uf909'
echo $'\uf8e3'
echo $'\uf9e5'
echo $'\uf955'
echo $'\uf957'
echo $'\uf99c'
$ ./nerdfont.sh
契
痢
凌
綾
列
$
Without nerdfonts, you get the original East-Asian mapping, as above. If you use correct nerdfonts with the -fd
option, you'll get the nerdfonts in place of the East-Asian ideographs (and then East Asians can retaliate on the Occidentals by mapping Unicode 0-255 to nerdfonts).
