  • Why there’s just myself starting HBSD topics?

Are there just that few HBSD users which you else are active online?πŸ€”
Even on Telegram no people else, but myself, have started any HBSD topics.
Twitter is little better, but beyond Shawn himself i’ve been the few most active mentioning HBSD on Twitter.
As for YouTube, there just have been fatally few desktop tutorials, but other user experience shares.πŸ˜…

hd_scania you can invite more of HardenedBSD users here πŸ˜„ for time being I think you are the only user here.

From what I read on the About page of its site, HBSD is the playground of 2 developers focusing on security with the intent of contributing back to FreeBSD. It's hence no wonder it doesn't attract many users.

Furthermore, the BSD family of OS accounts for roughly 1% of the overall OS landscape and, if Linux hadn't adopted systemd in 2014, it would have an even narrower audience.

My feeling is that there is a general awareness of this context in the BSD community and people instinctively stick to well-established BSD OS rather than encouraging further scattering of already scarce and diluted resources. Kind of instinct of preservation.

OpenBSD users prefer DaemonForums. UnitedBSD is rather for NetBSD users, though only a few of them post here, the others being just on the mailing list.

hd_scania The only thing I've found on HBSD is a Google group, but that's enough to meet like-minded people. πŸ™‚

pfr Smoking bongs???? What??? Where do I sign up! Sounds like my kind of people!

On a serious note (I am though still serious about the bongs though), yea, I bet the heavy concentration of NetBSD posts probably does cause people to shy away, however that is one them. This forum seems to be a great place to be!
