Backlit Cherry MX Brown Keys
128GB SATA III SSD
USB WiFi Edimax

Made with parts I had around the house and scrap wood and scrap Plexi glass. 🙂 I wanted something like the HP85 or IBM 5100.

So modular-xorg-libs doesn't build on 11.0 RC6. I moved the system over to 10.1

So, I don't have any supported GPUs to put in this machine. :/ Is there a GPU driver refresh sometime? I am going to have to put my wine project test with this machine on hold. My goodness, I keep running into issues. >:/

Anyone know about the upcoming version 11 and Radeon support? I may sell my RX 6400 and get an RX 5500 with a pcie riser cable. The 5500 is within power usage limits of the 400 watt flex psu I am using. And the 5500 is Navi14 and going by the source for the current driver is currently supported. However, if there will be new drivers introduced soon with Beige Goby support I'll just wait. The RX 6400 is a 53 watt card which is great. The RX 5500 is 110 watt. I'd rather stay well below power rating on the system as I'm unsure how the flex psu will hold up.

Yet another change in my plans. I have another i7-3770 system with an RX 5700 XT I'll be using instead. 😃 I'll post an update laters on how things go.

Just a note to anyone who may have purchased a cheap Netac SSD, don't use it with NetBSD. It only causes issues. 😁

Edit: I bought about 10 when they were on sale. I tried x2 of the 120GB SATA SSDs and they both behaved the same way, total chaos.

Does anyone know where the official directions for amdgpu are located for NetBSD? I built modular xorg and amdgpu but I get a kernel panic loading xorg. And I added drmkms shed and amdgpu to boot.cfg but I don't know if the directions that I found were correct since the end result is a panic in the kernel. 🫤

I may need a bios update on this motherboard the one installed is from 2018 and looks like there no new bios updates available. It's an Intel DH77KC. Bios date is 2018, before the GPU release date of 2019 for the RX 5700 XT. :/

Well since that is the case for Radeon, I will shift my focus away from gaming in wine.

I'm going to have to build a NetBSD machine for the purpose of audio. And I'll bring wine into that. I'll look into supported audio cards.

I really love NetBSD so I gotta make a machine for NetBSD to do something super.

I just read in the hardware part of this forum that the RX 570 is well supported. And going by the source code on github there is support for the EMU10K1 Creative Audigy cards. I'm going to have to buy a NetBSD specific list of hardware. 😃

EDIT: I was reading over the source for some of the EMU Creative board files and found this in

Eh, no'one said anything about 24-bit support. I was looking over the driver section regarding 24-bit and looks like there is 16-bit duplex single channel. So that's cool. Good enough for me. I'll plan to make a super awesome NetBSD specific system and get the known supported GPU. Then! I'll do the wine stuff. hahaha I got have all my stuff in order before I do anything else. I want a great NetBSD system, the best NetBSD system. I'll wait until I get the things I need to proceed before I post again on here. But, at the moment I am rather tied up on other projects that need to get done so it will be a bit!

Support depends on the card. Some Audigy models don't work. Better test before you buy!

Almost any HDA card these days will handle that. The integrated RealTek on my cheapo laptop does fine with the audio sample from here. Play the FLAC file using the browser and run audioctl -a at the same time to verify.
