Jay Yeah I've looked at those. They're pretty cool just a bit more expensive than what I wanted. I actually got an answer back from star labs this morning.

We have tested FreeBSD and found it lacks support for the I2C interface that the trackpad uses so the trackpad doesn't work. The BSD developers have been working on adding support for this, but until they do, the trackpads won't function, unfortunately. "
Elsewhere I was told to look at what models were supported at https://wiki.freebsd.org/Laptops#Laptop_support which I did. There are quite a few laptop models that are 5 years old or newer that I could get used for less than I would have spent on a starlite. So I'm still not sure what I'm going to do just yet.
