I am not a git fan, but what was posted makes a lot of sense. I wonder if being based on CVS is holding pkgsrc back ?
I would love to see pkgsrc get more use with other OSs and I wonder if pkgsrc being moved to git will get young people involved with it. Maybe even see nice Linux Distros based on pkgsrc, right now there are hundreds of Linux package managers. Being on git, we might see Linux Distros move off those and use pkgsrc. Using git could be an incentive.
