Due to the increased usage of OpenBSD/amd64, as well as the age and practicality of most i386 hardware, only easy and critical security fixes are backported to i386. The project has more important things to focus on.
That's the beginning of the end of i386 in OpenBSD.
Debian announced something comparable too and that'll probably tear down Devuan/i386 with it. :…(
Some things just are easier on a Penguin and that meant De??an for me for 3 decades now. I've not yet decided what will replace De??an for me. Void looks tempting, especially since XBPS-SRC has learned cross-building, but I'd prefer no to use a rolling release. Void with stable, (testing,) rolling branches would be a dream.
*sigh!*
But maybe that will redirect some users to NetBSD?
