NetBSD current binary packages

I just noticed Joyent is distributing binary packages for NetBSD current (9.99.9*). Is this something recent or did I fail to notice this earlier? I always had the assumption there wasn't any binary packages available for current and that I had no choice but to compile everything with pkgsrc-current.

This definitely makes it more accessible to play with NetBSD-daily HEAD images! 🎉😁

oui I've been using it for ages. If you want to combine it with locally built packages, you need to switch off pkg signature verification.
There are only two mirrors, though. One in the US east coast and one in Europe. So, for you in Japan, I don't know what's best.

https://pkgsrc.smartos.org/packages seems to be in the US and is a bit slow here.

@Jay I used to run NetBSD exclusively on ARM devices which was probably why I didn't pay enough attention to x86 land, wish they also distributed binaries for aarch64 current. But hey, can't ask for too much - really glad I now know I can get current binaries for my x86 workstation 😄

bsduck they used to be at https://pkgsrc.smartos.skylime.net/packages/NetBSD/trunk/x86_64 but, unfortunately they are no longer available since the move to MNX Cloud, AFAIK only the US repo is available now.

Thank you. I can live with that, the speed is not great but it's still usable, and definitely faster than building everything locally.

bsduck you're welcome. Btw, installing /pkgtools/mktools and setting PKGSRC_USE_MKTOOLS=yes in mk.conf significantly improves build times. I get 5 - 6 times faster builds but, don't quote me on that, since I haven't done proper benchmarks.
