Genuinely wasn't expecting that KDE commit.
There are several tiling compositors. velox sorta works on NetBSD already, with heavy patching of the underlying library it uses. sway doesn't. The ecosystem has "standardized" on Linux kernel APIs, and "window managers" are responsible for a lot more than they are in X11. They are basically full display servers.
My aim is to create something that has dual tiling and stacking modes that are per-desktop. I used dwm for years but it has a few quirks that I find extremely annoying and want to avoid. For my personal use case... honestly, I mainly use one fullscreen window per virtual desktop... and a lot of virtual desktops. That's basically how I used dwm too. I'm fairly uninterested in forcing any particular workflow on anyone. Except tags. Fuck tags.
