Question: NetBSD on Mac Mini Sluggish

Looking for a little direction. I am running NetBSD 9.2 on a Mac Mini (2014) with 8Gig of RAM. Desktops are xfce4 and fluxbox (fluxbox mainly). Using xdm Display Manager.
Things run just fine but after a couple of hours things begin to slow to a crawl. Pycharm takes up to 2 to 3 seconds to respond. Firefox the same. Even entering commands in a terminal is sluggish.

Are there any "tunables" I can look at?
Any suggestions on what to monitor to see who's hogging the resources?
