unable to boot NetBSD as an external usb disk after installed internally

Hi guys !
An issue that I run into twice :
I first installed NetBSD (internal disk) then after a while had to take it awsy and use it as external bootable, which I could not as it hang after a while.
Is there any tweak or change I should make to,installboot or some other config file (both amd64 and i386 ports) ?

You will need changes to both /boot.cfg and /etc/fstab at least (unless you have GPT and used the NAME=label syntax everywhere).

I always stick to mbr .
Would you mind clearifying more about what to change ? any appropriate man page on this ?

springsnow yes, fstab(5) and boot.cfg(5). Ask here for any doubt, but really, it should be as trivial as changing hd0a to hd1a in boot.cfg for the root partition and wd0* to wd1* in fstab.
