How do I fix CLI hotkeys in GUI?

In GUI apps, in text input fields, e.g. Iridium browser address bar, Leafpad text editor find field, I have CLI hotkeys instead of GUI hotkeys.
Pressing ^a moves the cursor to the line beginning instead of selecting all;
pressing ^w backspaces a word instead of closing the tab in a browser.

How do I get GUI shortcuts in GUI?

uxer This, actually, is a "convenience" (haha) offered by OpenBSD. Try (just make sure you don't blow away your existing settings.ini file though, eh?):

mkdir -p ~/.config/gtk-3.0
printf '[Settings]\ngtk-key-theme-name=Default\n' > ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini

rvp Freak it! I had read that article before! And that gtk-related place! I even recalled the word heresy!
But it had slipped my memory. I am quite displeased with myself.

Now, I have my gtk-3.0 hotkeys repaired, but not gtk-2.0. Specifically, leafpad's and pcmanfm's find fields.

I have tried putting the same line gtk-key-theme-name=Default into ~/.config/gtk-2.0/gtkrc-2.0.mine, then into ~/.config/gtk-2.0/gtkrc-2.0, with or without whitespaces, with or without quotes - all to no avail.

The witchery from the belowmentioned doesn't work.

This looks lile more of the same, I think.

I don't know what magic incantatation goes where for GTK-2.0, but, try adding a file in /etc/gtk-2.0/. Do a strings on the library (whichever it may be) for clues to paths and filenames. Otherwise, just revert this one patch and recompile. Asking on the OpenBSD ports list might be quicker, though.

rvp You provide worthy hints, but I'm not ready to go into such a trouble.
The text area in leafpad and address bar in pcmanfm do conventional hotkeys, whereas find fields with Emacs hotkeys are rarely needed for me.
