If you want to enjoy a BSD desktop then FreeBSD could be your choice.

Whether it suits you in the end, you only know when you have tried it. Alone that you can configure everything yourself and can determine what you want to have installed can make a lot of fun.
People who are new to FreeBSD usually choose GhostBSD because it comes with a desktop and other stuff out of the box, but this means that you don't learn anything because Mama GUI does everything and doesn't really give the usually FreeBSD expierence in my opinion.
