Ramiferous yes, you can add the line to your
.xinitrc but, first you need it to run without root password.

You could read the section important tweaks for correct services behaviour on this thread. Although, I don't think this is the issue. You see, I have the same behaviour but, only on my private network. If I'm on a open network, I don't need to restart
wpa_supplicant and I'm connected before I login. This behaviour isn't really consistent with the mounting of the
/usr partition but, you could give it a try and let me know the result or, you just add the restart line to
.xinitrc and forget about it 😉

Note: add just the https string, not other stuff before or, after it. These sites add some adds to the string and those are just annoying.
