I'm curious, what do you like about Lumina? To me it has always felt like an unfinished prototype, with many things missing or not very convenient but no added value compared to LXQt which I use.

My daily driver OpenBSD running on ThinkPad T430.
Window manager is Shod. Top window is XFiles with a context pie-menu open, bottom window is a container of windows with vim, zathura and ksh. Side bar is filled with WindowMaker-like dockapps: a startmenu, a pager and taskbar, a dockapp for battery which i forgot the name, wmpdart (shows current song playing on MPD), bubblemon (system monitor), and a NeXTSTEP-like clock/calendar.

So I've just defaulted to what I know (and what configs I have) and installed sdorfehs which, I do think it's probably the best option on such a small screen. The track pad on this laptop is also shite so I suppose a keyboard workflow is also preferable..

Also, someone please share their .dillorc. its the only Bowser I can stand to use with only 2gb of ram

So I've been using LXQt on my desktop machine for a couple weeks now and I must say, it's quite comfortable. I thought he default Ambiance theme looked nice with the grey and orange so I modified the Clearlooks OpenBox theme to match. Finally I can appreciate some nice drop shadows 🙂

I should probably go to sleep...

It's NetBSD 10.0 with spectrwm, custom shell script as a status bar and Xterm as my terminal of choice. The font is IBM Plex Mono.

9Front running in Bhyve zone on OmniOS, connected via Tailscale running in a different zone, routed to me (15 km or so) into the Tailscale client running on an OpenBSD VM running in Qemu on Windows 10, forwarding all the necessary ports and then drawterm uses those ports to show the GUI.

This doesn't look like much; but to me it's bliss. Not wanting to upgrade Debian to comply with some impending update deadline; I gave up and installed NetBSD on this special-purpose machine that only runs ffmpeg scripts and shotcut. It just knocks my socks off every time I get to ditch Debian for NetBSD. It really feels like going outside after years of looking out through a window. Everything stays exactly the same but there is no systemd hanging over my head, no weird hacks to make things work, and... things are faster 🙂

Now if only I could get shotcut to work. Oh! and I have to rename those shell windows!!!

ctwm on laptop, no titlebars. Theme inspired by Bunsenlabs default. Status bar based on lemonbar

emwm on desktop PC. Same IRIX inspired theme as before, with minor changes,

fwvm3 on the same desktop PC, but on Slackware + pkgsrc.

It has been over 18 months with the same set-up. Time for a refresh ...

I've been trying FreeBSD and OpenBSD, but I've never tried NetBSD, so why not give it a try? Right now, I really like it—more than FreeBSD and OpenBSD.

Here’s a screenshot of my NetBSD install with wmutils + Glazier.

arpnsh 🤣 you are smarter than me. I've packaged glazier on user request but, I've never figured out how to use it.

That and wmutils.

pin At first, I didn’t understand how to use it either, but someone asked on Reddit, and Z3bra replied with instructions on how to use it. He also has a blog that explains it. After reading that, it all started to click. Glazier and wmutils—once you get familiar with them—are pretty powerful tools.
