nortonham well i know cwm but never used it like i never use tiling wm's (is it tilling?) i prefer floating wm's and light desktops (i.e icewm, fvwm, xfce, enlightenment and so on)
if you have a suggestion to make it desktop like (i.e adding a panel, menus e.t.c ) it is a welcome addition
because everything i found about cwm was an i3 type of wm and i am not comfortable with i3, dwm e.t.c
i tend to agree with your statement on openbsd
if hardware is not an issue it is friendlier than netbsd and maybe and freebsd too...
i managed to install it in 15-20 minutes just like i do with void linux
