I thought it might be a nice idea to start a thread where we can tell each other a little bit more about ourselves outside of our shared interest in *BSD. I've participated in these types of threads on other forums before and they have generally been fun and interesting, so here it goes... Tell us something (anything) about you. What are some of your hobbies outside of your *BSD/ *NIX life? I'll go first. _P.S. This is not prescriptive, feel free to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable_ **- Where are you from:** Melbourne, Australia **- What do you do for a living:** I'm Social Worker working for an Australia wide mental health service. I work with a team of multi-disciplinary staff to support our indigenous communities affected by complex trauma, alcohol and drug addiction, and homelessness. **- What are your hobbies:** Other than tech, I really enjoy cycling. Melbourne is a great city for riding because it's mostly flat. I recently started brewing my own beer and it wasn't bad. I like Stout in the winter and IPA in the summer. **- What are you listening to lately:** Lately I've been getting into [Polyphia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_gkpYORQLU&list=RDEMBRuP0mJLAstoAZo-JOcO4w&start_radio=1) cos I'm also a bit of a guitar nerd. **- Where are you from:** Luxembourg **- What do you do for a living:** I'm a trainer, teaching software development (Java, SQL, HTML/CSS, React, etc) and related topics (Linux, design patterns, Scrum), and also a bit of soft skills (for IT teams). **- What are your hobbies:** writing (mainly poetry). I also have a special interest in flowers and trees; this can't really be called a hobby, but they are essential to my well being - maybe because poetry is all about beauty, and plants are easily observable incarnations of purity and perfection. **- What are you listening lately:** My preferred music style is sacred music, especially from the baroque period (e.g. Vivaldi, Bach). For me, the human voice is the most beautiful instrument. What a curious coincidence, La Bohème and the Barber of Seville are my favourite 2 too. I went watching Te Barber of Seville at Circo Massimo last summer They moved the outdoor opera summer season from the Baths of Caracalla to Circo Massimo due to covid and space restraints. I discovered myself actually preferring the latter solution.

Hobbies and activities outside of tinkering with NetBSD and single board computers mostly includes interaction design, reading and taking walks. What do you do for a living: I am a Network Admin and have a small business tech to consulting to ISPs (Since FreeBSD 4 Series).
What are your hobbies: I use to play my guitar and drawing some stuffs. I practice Krav Maga, to maintain fitness, some walking on the beach with my Feroz (Cabo Branco Beach, Joao Pessoa, the most east point of Americas).

Jay I guess you could say that TOOL got me into Math Rock. Their drummer is amzing! It's such hard music to tap along to because the time signatures are so complex. A Perect Circle was also a favourite of mine.

What do you do for a living: Im a husband, father, work full time in chemical manufacturing as a chemical systems technicians and go to school full time for software engineering.
What are your hobbies: Fantasize about the day when I can finally get more than 4 hours of sleep, lol. I like tinkering around on computers (big shocker). I still pick up my guitar or bass occasionally. However, on my free time I am usually either busy taking care of the kids or doing homework.
