BadWolf Web Browser

I've just packaged a new webkit based web browser, https://hacktivis.me/projects/badwolf
Please help testing, you can build it from wip

Installed gst-plugins1-bad gst-plugins1-good gst-plugins1-libav gst-plugins1-oss gst-plugins1-ugly gst-plugins1-x264 gst-plugins1-vpx and videos play seamless.

Ok memory usage also 🙂

I'm enjoying this browser, read about it.
Did you notice the JS button? It toggles javascript on/off on the fly 😄

Saw this browser reviewed by a few youtubers.. It looks Interesting, I might try it out since you've packaged it. It was apparently inspired by lariza which also looks quite interesting and is in pkgsrc Current. Will have to try both.

Besides the ok memory usage and ability to play youtube videos, what your overall impression @pin? Functionality wise, does it stand up to modern day browsing needs and could it replace firefox for you? I realise after saying that I still cant even login to spotify-web in firefox-esr so as long as it plays YouTube videos and blocks add's it certainly stands a chance

pfr lariza is in wip and not in current. The package builds from a git-snapshot of master at the build date.
I haven't tested it.

I've removed firefox in order to force myself to test badwolf. So far, so good but, I still want to check a few things. Playing videos requires (some/all?) the mentioned plugins.
Also, like with all webkit based browsers I can't stream TV-shows. I should really look at how webkit is packaged currently and do some testing cause, I remember streaming on midori a year or so ago and it worked.
Another possible issue could be the way the browser identifies itself to the web.

Haven't tested but, according to their page is done with external rules.

All in all, there are a few things to try but, so far I like it.

just tried lariza.. very nice.. smaller than surf, and it seems faster too. tube is not working for now, but overall seems more suckless than surf

doug213 try installing the plugins above, youtube surely works on badwolf with those installed, but not without them.
I don't care about youtube, I'd rather be able to stream TV.

I sort of took this as, i don't care for Google which was probably just me projecting. Hence the Google free YouTube alternative. Feel free to moderate my post appropriately.

pfr Also, its failing to build glib2-tools and not badwolf.

The browser is working much smoother after the update of webkit-gtk to 2.28.3 🙂
I'm pleased with it, just wish I could stream TV with it... Midori used to work but, it doesn't anymore, so something has changed on webkit 🤔
