Been trying to use OpenBSD / NetBSD for a while, but the gpu drivers just hold me back. I am looking for a GPU that can give me 3D acceleration, length within 18cm, and can handle Minecraft at 60fps. Here is a list of GPU that I have tried.
RX 460: OpenBSD 6.6 supports this, but a driver bug causes the entire system to hang and sometimes no render properly. NetBSD hasn't supported this unfortunately.
R7 370: Only tried on OpenBSD 6.6, works well for a week, then start showing the same problem.
R7 360: Same as RX 460: Occasionally freeze on OpenBSD, not supported in NetBSD
GTX 750ti: Not supported by OpenBSD. Nouveau on NetBSD should support this (I think?), but when I boot the installer, once it starts using the nouveau driver the entire screen is black.
HD 7700: Freeze on OpenBSD again. On NetBSD and Void Linux, dmesg shows the message 'ring 0 test failed', followed by 'hardware acceleration disabled', and when I launch up xorg both uses llvmpipe instead of hardware acceleration.
So my question is, what GPU do you all use? Is finding a GPU for my requirement hopeless?
Edit: I tested the GPUs as well on OpenBSD 6.7 snapshot recently, looks like the problem is still there. Other people have reported this bug on the mailing list but I can't see any progress fixing this.
