I have installed NetBSD 9 and customized my desktop environment in the same way as on other OSes and I'm impressed by the result!
Although I run it from an external USB disk, MATE and my usual applications run much faster and cleaner than FreeBSD. There is no notable difference from my experience on Void Linux. Congratulations to the developers! 🙂
My impression is that NetBSD developers try and bring good ideas from outside while still sticking to the BSD way. They also seem to pay attention to details. I really appreciate that!
Of course, everything is not working as I'd like, but I now have the motivation to produce the efforts required to make NetBSD my daily driver, both at home and work. 🙂
