"Put aside for a moment that an LLM is being used in developing NextBSD"
I think this fact invalidates it for my personal use. I believe LLMs are generally unethical due to the nature of how training is acquired without regard to license. Not to mention they are generally proprietary, being owned by a private company. However, if the LLM is trained on the developers own data and the LLM was developed by the developer than it's perfectly ethical, in my opinion. Or if the training data license and attribution is maintained throughout the process of all those neural pathways. However the majority of the code would obviously be comments at that point.
But, putting that aside for a moment. I looked at the website and didn't see anything that appeared to be useful for me to consider using it. 😃 But honestly, the history section of the page covers development history of BSD and then the NextBSD developers are a single person and an LLM. That's not really giving me any confidence in it being useful at the moment for any serious use case over an existing system.
I wouldn't want to discourage Joe Maloney from pursuing the dream of the NextBSD system though. I'm sure that someone will find it useful. Perhaps it will be the choice of OS for LLMs in the future?
