How do I build my own NetBSD installer?

And by installer, I mean the file called "netbsd" on the install ISO for MacPPC?

I have a problem with the default installer and I need to set some kernel flags for "wd".

I compiled my own version of GENERIC_MD with this flag set.

But when I try to boot off my file, I get an error about "no file system for md0"

Not sure what to do here 🙂

I looked into that:
"netbsd-INSTALL.gz: A gzipped NetBSD kernel containing code only for Open Firmware 1.0.5, 1.1.22, 2.0.x, and 2.4 systems (i.e. those that have floppy drives). It has a RAM-disk installer."

I'm on Open Firmware 3.x so I'm supposed to use GENERIC_MD for the installer, pretty sure.

"netbsd-GENERIC_MD.gz: A gzipped NetBSD kernel containing code for everything supported in this release. It also has a RAM-disk installer. This is the kernel you should use when you want to install via netboot, from a CD-R, or an HFS partition on Open Firmware 3 systems."

I figured it out.

On my Mac running UTM to emulate AMD64 running Netbsd (don't ask XD ):

./build.sh -U -j8 -O /home/chris/obj -m macppc -a powerpc kernel=GENERIC_MD3 install-image release

Then using the kernel generated here:
/home/chris/obj/distrib/macppc

This kernel is an installer kernel with the ramdisk with various unix utilities included.
