Netbsd 10 RC5 release version problem

For testing I have a netbsd 10RC4 vm which I upgraded to RC5.

I did the sysupgrade with the url for RC5 and everything went well.

When I do uname -a as well as cat /etc/release. Everything shows RC5, its nice.

But the version about dmesg is

I read a very similar discussion here about the same subject, however the outcome of the discussions did not seem to fit my case.

Yes I rebooted

I think I need to check if it is the same on a clean install.

But I don't have time right now for this 🙁

Well my os still work anyway for what I need it to do.

I made a clean and did not have a problem, and now the problem seems gone on the original system, I don't know why as I am sure I did reboot the first time.

I this is what I got after upgrading to RC5, I suspect you were fine. I upgraded using a bootable flash drive:

% dmesg | grep RC

I think what you were seeing was leftover RC4 entries in dmesg data and the RC5 entries showed up after I rebooted when the upgrade was completed.

FWIW, I see the RC4 entries when I do a dmesg head like you did. Newer entries say RC5 🙂
