I have a current Alpine Linux based WireGuard server.
I planning on migrating it to BSD because ... because of why not.

According to the Dox both FreeBSD/OpenBSD are supported but a little search shows that NetBSD as well.

So which one would you recommend for WG?

About wireguard on OpenBSD, you've not anything to install. It's inside on base.

Native WireGuard support is also available via the wg(4) device. As the manual explains, it can be configured the same way as all other network interfaces in OpenBSD.

You can install and configure wireguard in FreeBSD with the wireguard-tools package like in Linux, same as on OpenBSD, but in openbsd you can use the kernel module rather than the tools if you want
